Delta interventions is an interdisciplinary studio in which architects, civil engineers, urban and landscape designers will collaborate. Within this studio the students will be challenged to find innovative and endurable build interventions, on a wide variety of scales, that will transform and strengthen the identity of the Delta. In most Delta’s, high density building and water are facing each other on the border of possibility and threat. Nevertheless the buildings in general have a poor relation with the water since. Though they want to come close to the water, the main goal has always been to stay save. Due to climate change, technical innovations and new insights regarding environmental design and spatial identity, there are opportunities to create a new generation of architecture that will deal with the water and its possibilities in innovative and endurable ways.

05.12.2011 Delta Interventions Studio February 2012 (‘Light’ version)
In February the Delta Interventions studio will not run in its regular format; instead, students with a fascination for the topic are invited to join the Delta Interventions light studio. This means that MSc3 students are invited to join the EMU urbanism course of Han Meyer focusing on the construction of urban form in the Delta landscape. For the Msc3 students the EMU midterm-presentation is a P1-examination. After the P1 you can follow a more individual path, focusing on a specific research topic and preparing your P2 examination. All mentors normally available within the studio will be available as mentors for your individual project.
For more information about the EMU, see the download.
